Hip Leather Bracelets Showcasing the 40’s And 50’s

Leather bracelets showcasing the 40’s and 50’s

When it comes to leather bracelets I have always loved them for being great accessories, and when it comes to vintage jewels, I have always loved the look and glamour these showcasing gems add to you fashion statement.  Maybe that’s why I love what I do when designing my leather bracelets!  Vintage Gem Collection

Vintage Jewelry

Vintage jewelry pieces are novel, and hold sentimental value for many people.  It’s not fine jewelry per say, as it is often made of often inexpensive materials, and gems that look real, but are not.  We think that they are less expensive than the real thing, but with today’s interest in vintage, many times well preserved costume pieces by designers that are both hard to find and in good shape from certain eras, can sell for thousands of dollars!

In the early 1900’s, costume jewelry hit the market with designers experimenting with inexpensive types of glass.  Through the years, we have seen costume jewelry evolve through social and political trends.  Costume jewelry mirrors fine jewelry trends at every turn.

Leather Bracelets Adorned With 40’s Era Vintage Gems

I like to use pieces from the 40’s and 50’s era in my leather bracelet collection.  The 40’s brought typical pieces such as brooches, ear clips, shoe clips, and necklaces.  Popular designers were Trifari, Weiss, Eisenberg, Hobe, Coro, Juliana and Ciner.   This was the war era, and despite the challenges of the war, the costume jewelry industry boomed.

Leather Bracelet Designed With The 50’s Era Vintage Gems

Vintage Gems in jewelry boxThe 50’s brought us cluster earrings, pendants, and jewelry sets.  Beads, art glass and textured metals were used.  Popular designers were Dior, Weiss, Hobes, Juliana and Ciner, just like in the 40’s.  Sets were big because it became popular for women to match every part of their outfits!  The movies business in Hollywood showed us the most dazzling authentic designs, which costume designers quickly knocked off.  Gold color replaced silver, faux pearls, beads and rhinestones were used to create an upscale wardrobe!  Women had affordable prices for unique, expensive looking pieces! Color was used in a big way!
